The actual campsite is nestled at the very back of their property next to a creek, where there is a fire ring, a picnic table, a pristine composting outhouse, and a wooden deck/platform which was nice for the tent.

Internship information

General Farm Description: Two Roots Farm is a 3-acre organic farm in Basalt, CO. We grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers for restaurants, farmers market, and a CSA program. We lease 22-acres from the Pitkin County Open Space and Trails Program—3 acres are used for food production and the other 19 acres are used for hay and livestock grazing. We practice biointensive growing with organic methods. Our mission is to grow the freshest, healthiest, and most delicious produce for the Roaring Fork Valley in a way that is improves the land and cares for the farmers. We are a young farm—entering our fifth season, so we are still developing our systems, practices, and sales outlets. We work hard in the growing season, in all the elements (wind, rain, cold, and heat) to get the job done. We also have a really good time and eat amazing food.

Internship Details:

We are looking to hire two hardworking field crew members this summer. You will be an essential member of the field crew- we have a small team (4 full time total) so we all are involved in nearly every aspect of the farm. As a field crew member, you will get to be a part of every aspect on the farm from planting to selling. We all work together out in the field to grow over 40 different vegetables from seed to harvest. You work will include cultivation, planning, sowing, fertilizing, harvesting, washing, packaging, communicating with customers, working farmers markets, and general farm projects.

Educational Opportunities: You will learn about all aspects of a small organic vegetable farm.
Skills Desired: Previous farming or landscaping experience prefered.
