PITTSBURGH, PA — After being closed since March due to the coronavirus outbreak, Rivers Casino plans to reopen on June 9 with a myriad of changes designed to protect patrons and staff from COVID-19. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has given the 12 brick-and-mortar casinos in the state the go-ahead to reopen as early as Friday, June 5. Yet, none will be opening for business today, with the earliest entrants on Tuesday, June 9 when The Meadows Casino in Washington County and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh restart operation. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Wednesday issued minimum protocols for casino operators to follow as they reopen, which will dramatically change the gaming experience for some visitors. Patrons and employees will wear face masks, casinos will need to install lots of plexiglas and hand-sanitizer stations, and some slot machines will be.
